Yellow Dock Root (Rumex Crispus) is a common perennial often found in waste ground as well as cultivated land. The flowering stem reaches about 3 feet in height and has smooth leaves that can be curled. Towards the end of the growing season, it sends out flowers and seeds that cluster on branched stems. The shiny brown seeds can float on water, enabling them to attach to the fur of animals, helping to spread the plant. The young leaves have been used as a vegetable food source in early spring after boiling twice.
